The purpose of the PhD graduate seminars shall be to provide students with exposure to a variety of current and emerging topics in the area of specialization and other general issues such as new agricultural technologies, gender mainstreaming, climate change, new national and international policies in the areas of specialization. It will also help the students to enhance their presentation skillsand learn about the ongoing research in their areas of specialization.
Expected learning outcomes

At the end of this course, the learner should be able to:

1. Analyze current and emerging topics in agriculture, food, nutrition, environment, gender
mainstreaming, climate change, new national and international policies in the area of
specialization.

2. Appraise the ongoing research activities and new technologies in the area of agriculture,
environment, food and nutrition.

Course content

Introduction to techniques in the presentation: a topical review of literature and presentations on emerging issues: new national and international policies, international agreements and protocols, new technologies, climate change, environment and gender issues; guest lectures on emerging issues in agriculture such as food security and nutrition, bio-safety, environment, gender mainstreaming, climate change and new national and international policies.
