The goal of this unit is to prepare students for solo research and production career for film or television. It enables students to undertake a supervised academic / professional writing project in the broad subject field of film or television studies, a film / TV documentary production, or a TV program production. The academic research paper on either film or TV, and the script writing project should broadly engage with any social, political, economic, or educational issue. The documentary production for either film of TV should demonstrate sufficient competency in individual capacity for managing production. The scope and nature of work will be as proposed by the student in consultation with the lecturer at the beginning of the semester. Emphasis is on developing individual capacities. All submitted final projects will be graded out of 70%, with 30% coming from course work throughout the semester.

The research paper, screenplay, or film product must be handed in on the date and time indicated on the official examination timetable.
